Kangaroo Valley
Tucked into the lush escarpment of the NSW Southern Highlands, Kangaroo Valley is a peaceful pocket of sandstone cottages, towering eucalypt forests, and the slow-moving Kangaroo River. At just under 2 hours drive south of Sydney, it is gentle enough for a journey with your baby and remote enough to feel like a true retreat from routine.
The village itself is small and easy to potter around, perfect for a gentle outing when you're ready for one. Wander across the historic Hampden Bridge, stop in at a cosy café for a coffee and something sweet, browse the little galleries and boutique stores, or pick up local, wholesome produce from the village shops.
There are flat, easy walking spots around the valley and nearby lookouts with sweeping views over the escarpment, ideal for a slow stroll with a pram or in a carrier. Keep an eye out for kangaroos, wallabies, and native birdlife right around the property. There is no need to go far to feel surrounded by nature.
It's a place made for slow mornings, warm baths, log fires, and quiet time. The village near enough for a coffee run or a change of scenery, whenever you feel like it. The journey starts here.
Beyond the cottage, the village offers a refined little scene of its own from artisan bakeries and boutique wine merchants to a celebrated pie shop and locally-driven dining, Kangaroo Valley delivers country sophistication just minutes from your door.
